The first Vintage Car event of the season for Wynnfurst Racing is in the books. The team was on track with our Kohler Powered Lola's this past weekend at Road America for the SVRA Vintage Festival. The weather was a roller coaster with hot humid weather on Friday, rain on Saturday and a beautiful Sunday.
For the race on Saturday, the team elected not to run due to rain. The rain hit the track shortly before our race and with a wet track at the time of our race we felt it safer to not take these historic vintage cars on track.
For the race on Sunday, the team had a great race! Jeff was able to really stick with some of the larger more modern ALMS / IMSA Group 5 prototype cars for a good part of the race. That was really cool to see our 77 Lola with a Kohler Powered 2 Stroke Engine hang with these cars. The team brought home a 1, 2, 3 in our first feature race of the season for the vintage cars. Jeff #0 finished first, Ron #6 finished second and John #9 finished third in class.
It was a great way to finish off the weekend! John had an off track incident in his S2000 car on Friday morning. The team rolled out Jason's Kohler Powered Lola P2 car which qualified for Vintage for John to run the remainder of the weekend in. Was great to see 3 black and blue Kohler Powered / Kohler branded cars on track.
We have a few weeks off now till the WeatherTech International Challenge at Road America. The event this year is July 23 - 26. We hope to see you at the track!
